I would like to share with you some ideas identified for accomplishment during the course of the next year and beyond which I believe will allow our organization to continue to thrive. First, I look to the membership to play a more active role in NAWLEE throughout the year, and will seek additional opportunities for members to become involved in the organization. This involves sharing information with the membership through various communication methods and, most importantly, receiving feedback and ideas from the membership. The more perspectives we consider, the stronger our outcomes will be.
Secondly, as many of you know, the Board met prior to the start of the Annual Conference in Milwaukee to work on a strategic plan for the organization. The Board has put a lot of time and effort into the plan which will continue to be updated and refined as it is a ‘living, breathing document’. The strategic plan is very important to the future growth and continued success of our organization. During the planning session, six key components were identified to assist in moving the organization forward:
· Membership
· Website
· Conference
· Operations
· Research and Development
· Training
The details of the strategic plan are forthcoming and will be shared with the membership through the newsletter and website, thus allowing for a clear vision of NAWLEE’s future path and solicitation of additional comments and suggestions for our continued success.
Moving forward throughout the year, I strongly encourage each of you to become involved in the NAWLEE organization by assisting/volunteering: on a NAWLEE committee, as a newly created state liaison, participating in the mentoring program, as well as being an overall ambassador for NAWLEE. Additional information on the individual committees can be found in the bylaws and in the September 2011 NAWLEE Newsletter.
In addition, if you have any ideas or suggestions on how to further the success of our organization, please feel free to contact me dlayman@lenexa.com or Executive Director Roe Manghisi info@nawlee.org, and/or any Board Member.
I am confident that with the collective efforts of the executive board and the membership, we will continue to grow NAWLEE to the premiere organization we know it to be.
